Country Music Loses a Legend: Joe Bonsall of The Oak Ridge Boys Dead at 76

Country music mourns the passing of a beloved vocalist, Joe Bonsall. The longtime tenor of the iconic group, The Oak Ridge Boys, passed away on July 9, 2024, at the age of 76.   A Legacy with The Oak Ridge Boys Bonsall, also sometimes spelled Bonsalloak in searches, joined The Oak Ridge Boys in 1973. His powerful tenor vocals became a signature sound for the group, known for hits like "Elvira," "Bobbie Sue," and "I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes." The group's success propelled them to Country Music Hall of Fame induction in 2015.   More Than Just a Singer Beyond his vocal talents, Bonsall was a multifaceted artist. He penned songs for The Oak Ridge Boys, including the title track for their "The Journey" album. Bonsall was also a published author, writing a children's book series and several other works.
